Hamptons Year Round

Wainscott Common School District

A very small school; older students choose among East Hampton, Sag Harbor and Bridgehampton.

The Wainscott Common School District runs the Wainscott School in the hamlet’s historic schoolhouse. NCES lists 21 students in fall 2024 and a grade range of PreK to 5. The school’s website describes a PreK to grade 3 individualized program in an open classroom, so confirm the current grades with the district. Rentals in Wainscott are limited, and so are the seats.

Choice after the early grades

The school’s website says students in grades 4 to 12 are afforded the choice of attending East Hampton, Sag Harbor or Bridgehampton schools. The East Hampton Star reported in 2025 that Wainscott and Sagaponack were expected to sign a five-year agreement with East Hampton for certain elementary and secondary grades while keeping similar contracts with Bridgehampton and Sag Harbor. The board’s transportation policy says it provides transport to its resident students for the designated public schools. See the East Hampton, Sag Harbor and Bridgehampton districts.
