Hamptons Year Round

About Hamptons Year Round

Published by Liberty Design Studio: an independent guide to living on the East End all year, with sources on every page.

Hamptons Year Round is a guide to living on the East End after Labor Day: renting through the winter, moving from New York City, and the schools, hospitals, permits, utilities and calendar of eighteen towns, villages and hamlets. It is published by Liberty Design Studio as part of the Hamptons Network, with Hamptons Key for rentals, Eat Hamptons for restaurants, Hamptons Commute for getting here and around, and Hamptons Beach Pass for beach permits.

Independent

This site is an independent guide. It is not affiliated with any town, school district, hospital or utility, and none of them has reviewed it. Hamptons Key is the network’s rentals site and is run by the same publisher, so pages say so where they link to it.

How pages are made

  • Primary sources first. Numbers come from the Census Bureau (American Community Survey 2020 to 2024), NCES school data, NOAA climate normals and official town, county, state and utility pages. Every page lists its sources, and the sources page collects them.
  • Checked on a date. Pages are checked against the source the day they are written and say “Checked October 2026.” Rules, fees and hours change, so confirm with the office or operator before you rely on them.
  • Computed, not copied. Tables of rents, home values, heating fuel, daylight and weather are generated from the source data, so numbers in the text match the tables.
  • Gaps are stated. Where an official site could not be read, or a figure could not be verified, the page says so or leaves it out. East Hampton Town’s website, for example, blocks automated readers, so some of its details are limited to what its own pages publish in search results.

What it leaves out

No restaurant lists, no dated event listings and no beach permit details. Those belong to the sister sites, which keep them current. It also does not give legal, tax or medical advice; where a page restates a rule, it says where the rule comes from.

Real photographs come from Wikimedia Commons, with credit and license shown beside each image and collected on the sources page. The home page photo shows the windmill at Water Mill.
