The Sag Harbor Union Free School District has 932 students in two schools: Sag Harbor Elementary School (PreK to grade 5, 431 students) and Pierson Middle/High School (grades 6 to 12, 501). It serves Sag Harbor Village and North Haven. If you are searching, rentals in Sag Harbor cross the town line, and so does the school district, so confirm the address.
What a renter brings
The district’s registration page is specific. Renters must present a valid and fully executed lease and two of the following current documents in the renter’s name: a utility bill, a voter registration, a recent W-2 form or a renter’s insurance certificate. You also bring:
- the child’s original birth certificate or passport, which the registrar copies
- proof of required immunizations on a physician’s letterhead
- the completed online registration form and the new student release of information form
After submitting the online form, you must set up an appointment with the registrar to finish the process. The registrar is reachable at 631-725-5302, extension 741. A page on the elementary school’s site lists the requirements as the original birth certificate, immunization record, two proofs of residency and an application delivered to the Pupil Personnel Office at Pierson Middle/High School.
Contact
The district office is at 200 Jermain Ave, Sag Harbor, NY 11963, phone (631)725-5300. Under the state’s guidance in enrolling a new student, a school must let a student begin attending as soon as possible while residency is proven within three business days.
Beyond Sag Harbor
Pierson is also one of the choices for Wainscott and Sagaponack students after their own schools end. See the Sag Harbor profile and North Haven.
