The Sagaponack School is one of the few remaining public one-room schoolhouses in the country, known locally as the Little Red Schoolhouse. It educates children in grades PreK to 3, and NCES lists 17 students in fall 2024. The district is roughly coextensive with the village of Sagaponack. Rentals there are rare; if you want to see what is listed, start with Sagaponack rentals.
Out-of-district enrollment
The school keeps a wait list for upcoming out-of-district enrollment; families who want a place for a child from outside the district contact the main office at 631-537-0651. The school is at 400 Sagg Main Street.
After grade 3
The East Hampton Star reported in 2025 that Sagaponack and Wainscott were expected to sign a five-year agreement with East Hampton for certain elementary and secondary grades, while keeping similar contracts with Bridgehampton and Sag Harbor. Check with the school for the current arrangement before you plan. See the Bridgehampton and East Hampton districts.
Context
Sagaponack has 303 Census residents and 76% of its homes are classed seasonal, the third highest on this site. The Sagaponack profile has the details.
