Start with the towns that have a published median and the most renters, then widen. For the hamlets with no published figure, the listings are the only price evidence. Each town page below adds the school district, the nearest hospital, trash rules and winter conditions:
- Large renter communities: Hampton Bays, Springs, East Quogue and Montauk.
- Village centers: Southampton, East Hampton, Sag Harbor and Westhampton Beach.
- Smaller hamlets and villages: Amagansett, Bridgehampton, Sagaponack, Wainscott, Water Mill, Quogue and Shelter Island.
