The voter deadline
The New York State Board of Elections says an application to change party enrollment for the primary election in any year must reach the board of elections no later than February 14 of that year. The same page says an updated address received at least 15 days before a special, primary or general election has to be processed in time for that election. Both matter to anyone who moved out east in the fall.
Weather you can plan around
- Snow: 8.6 inches in an average February at Bridgehampton, more than any other month. January averages 7.2 and March 6.0.
- Cold: the average low is 24°. Montauk Airport’s is 28°, and Gabreski Airport’s 21°.
- Precipitation: 3.6 inches, the lowest of the winter months, and still more than July.
If you live here
Snow is a road question as much as a weather one: see who plows what. Check the fuel tank level before a forecast storm, not after. The almanac for March covers the clock change that follows.
